Great British Bake Off winner David Atherton has joined the coronavirus vaccine team and is urging people to show up when it’s their turn to get a jab.

The baker – who won the hit cookery show in 2019 – showed off his badge on social media after landing his new role administering vaccinations, promising he would be “gentle”.

“I’m a Covid Vaccinator!” Atherton, 38, posted on Twitter.
